Aldeburgh Beach Flowers
Aldeburgh Beach really is a beautiful place to visit around May and June as the flowers on the beach bloom and display their wonderful colour. It certainly brings some (at times) much-needed life and splash of colour to this part of the Suffolk coastline.
Photography Tips
In my experience, June is about the best month to catch the colourful flowers in and around Aldeburgh. You’ll find them dotted along the coastline as you walk from the centre of Aldeburgh towards Thorpeness.
Capturing a nice composition shouldn’t be too difficult given the plethora of fishing equipment strewed on the beach. There are often several really good patches where the flowers are in abundance and very vibrant so spend some time looking for a composition based around these areas.
In terms of conditions, the golden evening light is a good option here. Although I would suggest arriving at least two hours before sunset as the buildings parallel to the beach block the last of the light hitting the flowers – particularly as most of the flowers are often located close to the town. Sunrise is also a good option here, if you can manage the very early start needed at this time in the year.
